T he second world war fought from 1 st September 1939 to 2 nd September 1945 between the allied forces (Great Britain, France, Soviet Union, United States and china to some extent) and Axis powers (Germany, Italy and Japan). It is considered as a direct result of the consequences of World War 1, due to unresolved tensions and anger from the previous conflict. Treaty of Versailles  After the end of World War 1 the Allied forces imposed certain military, territorial and economic provisions on Germany under the Treaty of Versailles . It had to give up Alsace-Lorraine to France. Apart from this it was also made to pay US$33 billion in reparations to accommodate for civilian damages and its army was to have no more than 10,000 men with no heavy artillery, no tanks, no aircraft's and no airships.
