All the important dates and battles of World War 2 are known to majority of people as the are highlighted frequently, but there are also some other facts about the war which are not brought into focus.
Here are some unknown facts about world war 2.
1. For every 5 German soldiers who died
in WWII, 4 of them died on the eastern front.
2. 80% of the Soviet males born in 1923
didn’t survive the war.
3. Max Heiliger was the fictitious name the
SS used to establish a bank account in which they deposited money, gold and
jewels taken from the European Jews.
4. Out of the 40,000 men who served on
the U-boats during World War II only 10,000 returned.
5. More Russians both military and
civilian lost their lives during the siege of Leningrad then did American and
British soldiers combined in all of World War II.
6. From 1940 to 1945 the US defense
budget increased from $1.9 billion to $49.8 billion.
7. In 1941 a Private earned $21/month, in

8. William Hitler, nephew of Adolf Hitler
was in US Navy during World War II. He changed his name after the war.

the Jews by gassing them, it had considered sending them to the Island of Madagascar.

12. Historian believe that the Battle of
Stalingrad(1942 - 1943) during World War II was the bloodiest battle in history(800,000
– 1,600,000 casualties).
13. U.S. Marines in the Pacific used the
Navajo language to code messages during World War II. The Japanese never
cracked it.
14. During WW 2 hamburgers in the U.S
were dubbed “Liberty Steaks” to avoid the German-sounding name.
15. The Nazis pirated the Harvard “fight song” to compose
their Sieg Heil march.
